Dear Parent or Guardian:

The Albany Roman Catholic Diocese under the leadership of our Bishop Howard Hubbard has put in place very specific guidelines for all employees who work within the Diocese and all volunteers who work with children in any parish, school, agency or program. This process includes attendance at one of the Virtus Educational program sessions, "Protecting God's Children." If you plan to be a volunteer in any way at St. Helen's this year, you need to attend one of the Virtus classes. For an updated schedule, please go to the www.rcda.org website and click on Virtus Training. Remember, the reason for this mandate is for the protection of our children.

Part 2 of the Diocesan commitment to protect our children is the process of background screening for all employees and for all volunteers who have contact with children. This background check is a requirement for continued service in the Diocese. The Volunteer Applicataion must be completed, signed, and dated by all potential volunteers for St. Helen's School before you can be actively involved with our children. I would, therefore, ask you to give this form top priority in completing it and returning it to me ASAP in an envelope.

I thank you for your past cooperation and support and ask for your continued help in providing a safe and nurturing place for our children.
